In denial about starting secondary school

Dd and I have been to a new intake of year 7's disco / nibbles. & wine for parents evening.

She's still a little girl who likes to snuggle up with her mummy. She can't be ready for secondary school already.

She's going to grow up really quickly isn't she? :(

I had that feeling too with my dc though my dd2 15yrs still loves to snuggle up

DD is bigger than I am and still looks too little for Secondary if I stand far enough away

I think we are spoilt here. We have Middle School so no High School til Year 8. They look more like they should be going then. Smile

Nice to have a disco and nibbles though. Smile

That's a nice introduction.

My dd1 just turned 13, and she's in S1 (yR 7 in england) as they go a bit later here. She still gets in bed with me for a cuddle in the morning before she has a shower and sits on dh's knee while watching tv.

For us, the biggest adjustment has been the travel - she gets 2 buses across Glasgow each way every day. And has a pass, so it's not the school bus. She loves it - says other people's conversations are fascinating.

Reckon it must be ok as she's currently listening to loud music, dancing and making Cookie Monster cupcakes in the kitchen (I've been banished!!)

My soon-to-be-secondary DD still snuggles in bed with me too Smile Long may it continue!

She's so excited to start senior school, especially as she discovered a girl from her dance class is going there.

Don't worry - ds is in 6th form now, and still like "huggles" with his Mum Wink
