If you live in Catford, what senior school does your child go to?

Hi there, we are hopefully moving to Catford this year, my dd is only 5, but i just wondered what the range of senior schools are like there. I understand that travelling distances for secondary schools is quite common, but would appreciate some guidance as to what travelling time is normal.
Thanks in advance!

There's a mixed private school in Catford, St Dunstan's. Generally though children in London do travel. They have free transport, it's the norm.

Yes - St Dunstan's looks very nice - but I am wondering whether we would be able to get into Prenderghast Girls if we live in Catford. We seem to have some good schools in Lewisham and around, I'm just not sure how many of them we would be able to get in to.

SarfEasticated, study the Lewisham Education secondary transfer document here which gives you a breakdown of last year's admissions by school (p63 on) - but bear in mind that you're several years off secondary transfer and things can change very fast in that time.

At the moment I think you might be too far from Prendergast Hilly Fields unless you're well to the north of the South Circular. You should look at Sydenham Girls' which seems to be generally well regarded, if you're set on a girls' school.

Thanks for that London Mother - much appreciated :)

you're right we wouldn't make it based on last year, but as you say a lot can change in 7 yrs. I still can't decide whether to stay in cramped flat in SE4 or move to nice house in SE6... house prices are through the roof at the mo.
