Anyone know about ICT exam certificates? OCR Level 2?

Been going through paperwork having a tidy up and found a certificate from when DS took his GCSE's in 2010. It is an 'OCR Level 2 Award in Functional Skills Information and Communication Technology'.

Anyone know if that is a GCSE equivalent or something they dish out to everyone for turning up?

Thanks

Don't know anything about this particular one, but Level 2 is supposed to be GCSE Grade A-C equivalent.

It's a GCSE equivalent, and no it is not just given away.

Oh that is great, many thanks. He didn't even mention it when he got his GCSE results.

My daughter has something similar worth 2 GCSEs but it wasn't described as functional skills, so that award may be different to hers

Interestingly, six months after finishing school, apart from Enhlish and Maths, the ICT learning has been the most useful to her in her in her new study (not ICT!) and in real life.

Learning to type has been the most useful thing I ever did at school. Years later I learned that only the 'not so bright girls' were allowed to learn typing. Thanks for that ex-school friend.
