Raising secondary school leaving age and free transport

As we know the government is planning on keeping children in education/training for longer.

When this comes in, I am wondering if kids that are currently entitled to free school transport for their catchment school are going to carry on getting free transport?

However, I do know that the teenagers are not necessarily expected to stay on for A levels and could get an apprenticeship or a job with training or vocational training, which would be out of catchment for us, so I can't see how free transport could be provided for these kids?

Does anyone know what the score is?

Since the school leaving age is not changing there will be no automatic entitlement to free transport for children staying on for A levels. If all pupils were being required to stay at school and take A levels it would be different. Unfortunately they are only insisting that those who choose to leave school at 16 undertake some form of training.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the transport will allow the older children to get on the free transport (taxi in our case) and we pay them?
