Oh OK. That is just another name for RE afaik. In many schools they don't have the option of not doing it. DD has to and is quite enjoying it but probably wouldn't have chosen it if there had been a choice.

My DD is in 2nd year I'd GCSE and loves it. I think it's developed her ability to make a reasoned argument, see both sides of an issue, and has helped enormously with essay writing skills for other subjects.
Be aware though that they have a lot of in depth discussions about controversial issues such as euthanasia or abortion.

Two of my boys ahve done it and love it. Infact the are doing it at A level too.

My DD also wants to carry on with philosophy, and is even considering a degree
