Recommendations please - girls hardwearing school bag

Sorry to post this under the education section, wasn't sure where to put it.

Can anyone recommend a hardwearing school bag for girls - any particular bags/fabrics whatever. Found out last night my daughters one month old bag has split midway on one of the handles - she's only had it a month and I think it's due to the weight of things she's carrying.

Get a Jansport one (from epacks or Amazon etc...). Classic American school packs with a 30 year guarantee. Lots of colours and patterns. Iff they break you send it back and they fix it. They really do.

I returned my daughters rucksack to the shop in week 2 of Year 7 as it just frayed and came apart! The shop have been very snotty about it and insinuated that we had done something to the bag rather than normal wear and tear but have now given me a refund. I will look at Jansport too.

Thanks for your reply. I got mine off the internet so not so easy to return, also I think the damage is down to the shear weight of things in there - I wouldn't want to carry it around all day. Spoke to a friend of mine and she is about to sew her daughter's bag for the second time.

Back to the point, will have at the Jansport bags with my daughter later - thank you.

DD has a Gola bag (from Amazon over a year ago) which is still holding up well despite her putting lead weights every school book she posesses in it every day

My DD has a Kipling 'madhouse' messenger which is great because it has lots of pockets and has a zip to expand it if necessary. My eldest DD had one of these which lasted for years too.

TK Maxx often have bargainous Jansport bags, DS1's was only £5.

My DD 12 will not entertain Jansport though, she has had four bags since starting secondary school last year two fell apart and one recieved unwanted attention.
Current one is a Converse backpack from Ebay. It is the holy grail fashionble and hardwearing fits everything but her flute in.

I recently got a Jansport Aircure bag which has an extra strap/handle between the shoulder straps and the difference this alone makes to the weight of a full school bag is striking. It deflects the weight away from the shoulders and toward the bottom. My SIL advised us to get one and I thought it was just a fad, or at best would be just like any other bag, just pricier at £60. We tried the same set of books in it and in the other backpack we have and couldn't believe the difference. I do think it's a better design for the back than a regular backpack, especially for growing kids. We bought in a hurry and didn't shop around as supplies were low since return to school but it is still cheaper than a couple of sessions with the physio which is where we were heading otherwise.

Thank for your replies. My daughter didn't come to a conclusion last night about a bag, but it's certainly clear we need a more hardwearing one!!
