We're moving back to England but probably not in time for DD to do the 11+ so I'm now looking at independent schools for 11 or 13+ entry.

Can be anywhere in England really - we were looking around the Midlands/North West but have broadened the search as we can both work from home.

We'd love an academic school but one that doesn't rely on the girls being self starters - DD is very bright but a dreamer! Good rep for sciences is a must as that's where her academic interests lie.

Thanks for ANY advice/recommendations you can give

Loughborough High or Nottingham Girls High?

Both have excellent results, strong on science. Would say that Loughborough probably has a more "all-rounder" element e.g. very strong on music whereas Nottingham perceived as more purely academic focused. That's just local parents' gossip though.

How about moving to Brighton or nearby? If so then look at Roedean as a day girl or flexi boarding.

Abbots Bromley School for Girls. Boarding or day, non-selective entry but excellent results, lots of extras (including ballet school and ponies) and pleasant countryside. It is churchy, which may or may not appeal to you?

How about Harrogate Ladies? Or Queen Margarets in York? I have friends who's DDs are at both of those and all very happy with the results.

Roedean in Brighton - DDs there are very happy, great education, lots of extra curricular activities and a lovely atmosphere.
