A physics book for AS/A Level please

My cousin is really struggling with the physics in her Applied Science A Level. The unit is called "Working Waves". My aunt has asked me to help her, which was fine last year when it was mainly biology and chemistry, but physics is really not my thing.

So I was wondering if anyone has used a book to help with physics, please?
Ideally something with practise exercises. I'm trying to get a recommendation because Amazon has 1001 different books but I have no idea which to go for.

It needs to be quite basic level, DCousin is really struggling. She got EE for the AS level, after repeating the year, and her parents would love for her to at least stay there, but it's looking pretty bleak. She's at a 6th form college and they're not being very supportive. Well, they let her retake her first year, but they're not actually doing anything to help her.

Sorry but it sounds like she really isn't cut out for it.
For what it's worth my DS's 6th form college supplies revision guides for £5, presumably they get a bulk discount. The one he has is CGP.

An E is a massive thing for her. She's AS and has other LDs, so everyone's really pleased with that. My aunt just wants her to do something she enjoys doing for a little bit longer, before having to face the stark reality of her real world prospects . We know she isn't cut out for it, but she likes it.

you need to find out the exam board then do a search online for guides/books

Practice in physics is a good book if she just wants to practice example after example after example.

Doesn't do any of the theory tho just example questions. (trainee physics teacher).

(and it is mostly the mathematical side. Not sure how relevant to an applied science course tho as it is very pure physics.

DS didn't find any of the study books particularly good for A level physics but mat have sufficient depth for Applied science.
One resource which is free and very ggod at explaining concepts is www.khanacademy.org/science/physics

But TBH I would wash your hands of it OP. Your poor cousin should not have been allowed to continue and be doing something more akin to her abilitiy and aptitude.The school and her parents are doing your cousin no favours.She is being set up to fail

It's driving me crazy tbh. I talk to DH about it as he's a teacher. But no one else is helping her and it's going to be hideous if she just fails everything outright, like she did in the 1st year .

My aunt is even talking about her university options now and I just want to scream at her that it's never going to happen and it's cruel to push it; but I really think the school should be the ones making that clear. I have no credibility behind me to say that. DCousin is absolutely convinced that she can go to university and, from what she said last time I saw her, thinks she's going to be a doctor. I really don't think it should be up to me to shatter that dream, but it's insanity.

But I really don't want to abandon DCousin.
