What to wear when raining?

Or indeed a winter coat for later on?

Hmmm....ime most just wear a blazer. Seems to be some sort of unwritten rule that coats are too uncool for school.

Most children have to carry all of their kit around with them when they move around school so I would choose perhaps a light waterproof coat that can be rolled up into a bag. Mine all had them and they managed fine.
