Walthamstow secondary schools - anyone got any experience?

Hi, I have a very bright 8 year old and soon we need to start thinking about secondary school education. Does anyone have any experience - positive and negative - of secondary schools in Walthamstow, especially those that can recommend any school that isn't the girl's school!

Hi there, I'm also starting to look at high schools - does anyone have any experience of Walthamstow High Schools for either girls or boys?

Kelmscott is a nice school in a new building with a lively head teacher

I'm still a few years off this but have neighbours who have kids at Leytonstone, Frederick Bremer and the Girls School and all seem very happy with them. There's quite a lot of discussion about this generally because 3 new free school have just been approved for the borough.

Lovely, I meant!

If you are looking beyond e17 only, go see George Mitchell. A school with fantastic kids, a great ethos and rapidly improving results

I asked on fb the other day. Someone msged me to say that Willowfield was small, caring, and chaotic, Walthamstow academy was great, they'd done some classes at the Girls' school and lked it, and they knew children who were happy at Frederick Bremer.

Our list of schools to look round is getting longer by the day (have child in year 5).

Willowfield is moving to a new, larger building

Yes, although I understand there has been some opposition?? What a headache for them. Just looked and found that they are having a meeting for parents to talk through secondary admissions in July, which I may go to. At risk of outing myself, my daughter will have spent her yr5 on a building site, so not so sure if I want her to do the same for her yr7...

New building and an expanded school will be nice, but yes, can be disruptive while it's going on
