Ds is due to go to secondary school next year. The HT said in assembly that he would be speaking to the DHT of the local high school and telling him about each and every child in ds's year whether they're going to that school or not. Is this what usually happens between schools? Could this be a breach of confidentiality? Ds has SN and behaviour difficulties (we know HT would prefer him not to be there) and is now anxious about what will be said about him Sad

Schools to do talk to each other - pupils files are transferred to the school they will be going to - usually after they have been given a place and at the end of summer term.

Teachers from secondary will visit primary school and information is shared .

Seems a bit early in the year however to start speaking with secondary school.

If your DS had SN then even more important that the schools speak with each other but if your DS is not going to go to that secondary school I can see where your concerns lie.

Also were you there in assembly when HT said this or is this being feed back to you by DS - I would clarify with school .

Thanks Tuna - I will check with school. The HT seems to say a lot of things in assembly though that could be classed as slightly controversial iykwim.

Primary schools usually only give info to the high schl which the children are going to. Agree that it's v early, would normally be Easter-ish after places have been allocated. The senco from the secondary would usually have a mtg with the senco at your DS schl to discuss any children with SEN.

I would wait until a place has been allocated as it's nearer the time and you can chat to your senco and make sure that any concerns you have are passed on.
