Hi
We're moving back to North Devon with 3 kids. Looking for good state or private school to take them through to A levels. Any ideas where to start looking?
Would also consider north cornwall if really great school.

Whereabouts in North Devon? For private, there is West Buckland - Christian, sporty, very good pastorally, good academics - which has a fairly widespread bus network for pupils. Also if you are near Tiverton there is Blundells which seems to have a greater snob value attached for whatever reason.
State schools - you will not find one to take you through to A-level except for Bideford, which has got a lovely new building but has still to prove that it can deliver academically. Sixth form provision otherwise is through Petroc which has sites at Barnstaple (OKish) and Tiverton (to be avoided). QE at Crediton does go all through, but it is Mid-Devon not north.

Ilfracombe is a state school in ND which goes through to A levels. I don't know anything about it now, but when my niece went there quite some time ago it was dire. However, she then went to Petroc and said it was 'OK'

I don't think Ilfracombe will fit the bill for the OP.

North Cornwall, depending on location, may be able to access Cornwall College or Truro College - although you would have to check that. Both very popular (as is Bodmin sixth form) with Truro having a very good reputation.

Really need to look at location and transport availability and cost though - could be quite a hike involved (there is quite a daily hike involved for many 6th formers in Cornwall)

thanks Kez100 and Themumsnot. Looking at living in Bideford area. Heard anything about Kingsley, which is in Bideford?
