my DD is going in to year 9 and we are keen she starts taking school work a bit more seriously!
I have discussed expectations etc with her. She knows she needs to get stuck in. How much homework should I expect every night. we have been looking at courses that might interest her post GCSE's to give her something to aim at
Should say we are back from overseas so its a new school for her, though she does know a few people there.

I think you should contact the school and ask them this question. There will be some sort of way of communicating homework set with you, be it a diary or a web page. the most successful uses of these by parents help them to keep ontop of homework expectations.

Marking spot to see what other answers are.

I would say that in Year 9 you should expect about 1.5 hours of homework per night.

ahh yes the school have introduced a new system that I can hopefully log in and see what homework has been set etc.
I don't want to be badgering her every day.Hoping she will crack on with most of it under her own voliition

We have one of those!!

The number of parents complaining that their kids never get homework set has dropped dramatically!! Grin
