GCSE results day. Are you planning anything special.

I can't decide what to do.

We are not expecting DD to reach her target grades set in year 9, but she did finally put the effort in so I know she has worked hard to pull her grades up from a lot of predicted Ds at the end of year 10.

I was thinking of giving her a card and maybe making her a cake for when she comes home from school, so she knows I am proud of her before knowing the results iyswim. I know I/DD might be disapointed but I don't think results day should be a day to "have a go." It should be a day she can look back and remember we praised her for the effort she put in to achive her results.

If she doesn't achieve the results she is expecting, we can disuss it later, after she have had time to reflect.

I would like to do something else later in the day but all I can think of is going for a meal, which doesn't appeal to me much, I'd rather do something a bit different.

So how are you planning to make results day special?

Dd is going into yr 11 but had short course gcses this year..RE! citizenship and ICT? Plus some English modules.
She has ocd and severe anxieties, and found the exam situation very difficult...ran away after the RE one and we had to get the police

However.....I am hoping that she has now gone through the worst, and will be ok next year.

She reckons she will get c for re and citizenship...not sure about ICT.
English should be A/B.

I think you have a great attitude....she has worked hard, it's not the end of the world and she has put the effort in . She may surprise you!
What about booking her in for a beauty treatment/theatre or music gig?

I have rashly promised dd Broadway next July ...mainly because any excuse to go to NY.

It's Dh birthday so we are going for results then breakfast somewhere and maybe something else later. Haven't decided yet but its more to do with birthday than results.

I'll be here if needed. Could go either way. DD will probably just ring my her results and spend the day with her friends.

DS usually goes into school with his friends (doing GSCE's since year 9) whilst I wait at work, congratulating our Year 11's, nerves on a knife edge, waiting for him to phone me.

I know this year he hasn't worked as hard - fingers crossed

Bruffin its DHs birthday on Wednesday so we will probably go for a meal then, which is why I'm not so keen to go for another.

MrsR :o at any excuse for NY. We have just come back from a few days in London where we did a theatre trip along with the Olympics and HP studio tour. She wouldn't appreciate pamper treatment for the sake of it, she would see it as a waste of money.

We're having a take away in the evening - might even break out the champagne!

Were on holiday! Which is great I think as he isn't stressing.school will email us. Might let him choose a place to eat out. Definitely agree with the op praise the effort and celebrate that rather that discussing the actual results.I feel ds really worked like a trojan and that is to be celebrated. I'd like too think he has gotthe results he wants but he has a bit of a record for dropping a grade our two for no reason.

We're waiting too. We have just got home from germany so have promised a black forest gateau as a results day treat, but will be made regardless of the grades.

May do a BBQ with friends as a fun thing anyway and also celebration if all goes really well.

Family tradition here, started by my sister - down to school for results, then home for champagne breakfast whatever the results are. Bubbly chilling in fridge now! We are also going out for a fmaily meal in the evening, after which DD is going to a beach party with the other Y11s.

I'm making DD a cupcake bouquet to give her when she comes home and we are going for a meal on Friday.

I would still like to do a little something special, but I can't think what. I'm off to google ideas.

If my ds had worked, then I would have made a thing of taking him out for a special meal or something at the end of his exams - it would have been about praising the effort he put in, regardless of what happens tomorrow.

As it is, he's planning to spend the day with his friends, and then there's a party in the evening (at one of friends houses). I had to point out to him he needs to text or call me with the results when he gets them, and not forget me whilst he goes off with his mates.

We've always praised the things they've worked out though.

Well DD was made up with her cupcake bouquet and cards and we're going for a meal tomorrow night.

I've decided we need a nice study area (away from bedrooms) and I've just seen some lovely cath kidston folders, so I think I'll treat her to them and make her a nice study board ready for her A levels.

I know those folders, they are lovely!

Dd just did one this year, I took her for lunch and am making her choice of tea.
