GCSE Result - stress mounting

It is beyond me that we have to wait so long for these blardy results. We are not allowed to mentioned GCSEs results at home and I have rarely seen DS since he finished his GCSEs. However DS made the grand announcement today that if he gets so many As he will stay at Sixth Form X otherwise he will go to Sixth Form Y. DS then left house to meet up with friends. Hmm

I just want him to be happy (and successful). At least I know he has some sort of plan

Is it tomorrow? Good luck!

has he applied to both sixth forms?

BackforGood · 14/08/2012 16:35

No pianomama - it's A levels this week and GCSEs next week not that date has been imprinted upon my brain.

He has a place at two sixth forms. Most of his friends will be X but he knows some people at Y. It will not be a disaster but the waiting game is a killer

GCSE results are a week Thursday.

In Scotland here and we went through it last week. In my experience I think the parents get more stressed out by this than the kids. Good luck! (DD did very well here)

Well done to your DD crazycarol sadly DS didn't do so well. Only BB (to add to BCC last year). I am so disappointed for him that he won't now get into a good university.

DH and I were the first in our families to go to uni and have postgrad degrees. I had always assumed he would be similar to us, but he is not very academic, nor does he have any real talents to compensate for this. I am a bit worried about his future.

I had a talk with DD about what she realistically thinks she will achieve. She is hoping for Cs and Bs, Unfortunatly she knows she put enough effort in too late to get the predicted As.

All I am hoping for is she gets more Bs than Cs and she gets them in the subjects she worked hard at. Oh and I'm working on my not disapointed face :o

DS is now extremely nervous. He took IGSEs in English Lit & Language & got his results on Monday. Expected A/A* & received B/B. Long story but it's possible an error has been made in the Language paper either by DS or by the person marking. We shall see on that one, but meanwhile DS is now panicking about his GCSE results. He had already decided n which sixth form he wanted to go & was given an unconditional offer so even if he didn't do as well, they'll let him swaps few subjects around. He shouldn't need to swap anything around though as he'll be fine. Shame he doesn't have the same confidence in himself.

We're keeping his mind off things by decorating his bedroom. It's helping a little but roll on next Thursday!
