Italian GCSE ?

DS is thinking of doing Italian GCSE... has anyone out there done it ? What's it like as a language to learn ? Bit of silly question, but is it 'easier' or 'harder' than Spanish ?
Background : quite a lot of French, and a smattering of Latin...
Any opinions on best choice ? Thanks

Dd had been doing Italian in yr 8 and 9 and finds it easier than French, she would have done gcse but it clashed with other subjects.

my DD is doing French, Spanish and Italian GCSE -I think she prefers it to Spanish and probably doesn't like it as much as French,..... personally I think it is equally easy/hard as Spanish.

I wonder why she prefers it to spanish...?

Whether one language is easier than another is a very personal thing - I found German easier than French, but a lot of my peers were the other way round.

I don't think there's one that's better / worse to learn. They're both well respected modern languages, so your DC should do the one they enjoy most.

Both of my dc prefer Italian too, they said its easy to learn.

orangetulip - I think she prefers it purely because the teacher is nicer!

Its easier to pick up the basics of Italian so the GCSE is ok. I'm told the A level is quite hard compared with french. Heresay of course, not evidence.
