Im choosing to home school my secondary school child as there are no places available in our borough in secondary school, and the authorites keep giving me places that are in the outer hebrides. my child has special needs and disabilities, and they dont seem to get that i need to be as near as poss in case of emergencies and that my child wont and cant do transport apart from me. is anyone else feeling bullied by the authorites by making them feel guilty for choosing this (hopefully) short term option until a place in a nearby school comes up? Ive done my research and its all perfectly legal to home school, and i am a teacher myself. im a full time carer for my child.plus being a single parent i always feel 'picked on' and not taken seriously. id appreciate some encouraging feedback. thanx.

i think you are very right about your decision.
only you know your circumstances very well and I believe you will do your best.
you being a teacher is a very big plus.
i hope a very good, nearest school will have a place open for your son soon.
best wishes.

There is a Home Ed Section within Education, where you'll find lots of info and support. Best wishes.
