Top group English Levels in average comp (reading, speaking, writing)

Just wondering what kind of levels we are looking at to be in top group in English in average comp? Our year group is about 200 split into two halves so there's 2 top groups of about 30 I guess.

I don't mean overall combined level but split into reading, speaking and writing.

Not sure about split levels as not given in year 7, but our top group started on 5a and are now on 6a/7c. 250 per year and 2 top sets as year split in half. Does that help ?

So would that be most of the 2 top sets (approx 60 kids) all on a 6a/7c. Is this at the end of Year 7?

Which year?

At my school (high achieving comp), to get into the top set in Year 9 ( we have mixed ability groups in Years 7 and 8) a student would need to be expected to achieve a level 7 by the end of year 9.

Just asked my DD who says lowest level is 6c and highest a 7c. End of Year 7 in top set, Average in whole year is 5b, and lowest in year is a 1a ! Proper comp,

Thanks,
So, for top set English, at average comp, at the end of Yr 7 you need to be looking at a minimum 6c to progress to a 6a at the end of Yr 8 and then a 7b at the end of Yr 9 (or something along those lines).
