Fast track

Hi my son is going into a non selective in September, he is going into fast track, does anyone what this means? Also can anyone recommend any study books to help him prepare for September his levels are 5a maths and reading 5b in writing.

You need to get the school to explain what it means. As his ks2 is above average he will be in 'top sets' so they may be expecting him to sit gcses early in yr 9,10 in certain subjects. It is not the same in all schools.

in our area we have grammar schools and in some of the non grammars there are fast track or 11+ streams. in general here it means the top band where the pace of lessons is usually quicker and as already mentioned there may be students taking gcse's early

as far as books are concerned try this for maths and this for english

thanks we also have a grammar system, but it didnt work for us, am hoping fast track will be like going to a grammar, am also thinking about the 12+.

fast track in my nephews school means that they study a year ahead of what their age group is. He is going into year 8 in September and will start on a few exam courses very common to start in year nine in our area
