Could anybody help me out with any thoughts and opinions on the pros/cons of Pangbourne College. I know very little about it at the moment, but my son is very keen. Would love to know others' opinions and experiences.

My three have been to Pangbourne. It did wonders for them . My eldest son is now at London University studying History and my daughter is off to Bath University. The youngest is still there in 5th form.

The pupils there are courteous, well-mannered and 'grounded'. They are a close knit bunch and they all have a pride in being Pangbournians.

The College 'punches' above its weight in terms of sport, music and academic success. It is set in 250 acres and the school roll is around 400. The headmaster and the teachers seem to know every pupil's name.

The facilities are good with some major improvements and building constructed in the last couple of years.

Well worth a visit.

Top place.

Avoid. It does not support academically gifted pupils. Have a look at its university entries - not impressive. It also prides itself on pastoral care, but the girls are not treated equally. The pupils are well-mannered but self- obsessed and narrow-minded. Diversity is not part of Pangbourne ethos.

As the OP was 8 years ago you're a bit late...
