Quick question about GCSEs

Which is meant to be the most taxing exam board? DS does a mixture of Edexcel, AQA and OCR and I can't see a difference tbh, however there seems to be a feeling that some are harder than others. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

WJEC is the easiest one as a far an English is concered. It's so easy that it;s a joke.

OP
I hope your exams have gone well.
AS you are well aware, all of the boards have had the most almighty kick up the arse over the last year so the exams you say may be very different (with the same boards) next year.

I have been looking at the 2013 GCSE AQA science syllabus and the OCR 21st Century Science suite. The AQA looks to be the more demanding of the two. Would be very interested to hear what science teachers think, though.

Our school do 21st C Science. It's easy to ignore the Ideas in Context papers which are tough. Well the students report them so and the grades are generally much lower on these papers.

Think it depends on the subject.

Is WJEC English really thought as so easy it's a joke? I'd be intersted to hear others thoughts about it as my DD's school uses this board.

circular · 24/06/2012 11:17

Don't know about WJEC English, but DD's school do WJEC Geog, According to the HOD, it is chosen as it is the best preparation for A Levels, for any of the boards.

ds3's sn school uses wjec for english and edexcel for maths - I assume they have gone for the least taxing (??) just imo - no evidence to back it up at all.

eatyourveg · 27/06/2012 12:55

meant ds2 for ds3 is doing aqa which is what I thought most schools did for english
