No parents evening year 8

Ds1 is in year 8 and with only a few weeks left of the school year we have had no parents evening.

The school have not officially said they aren't having one but a friend asked the tutor and he said there wasn't going to be one. Then friend emailed the head who said that as we have quarterly reports with targets on and comments they weren't doing them.

I feel though a face to face meeting with subject teachers has got to be better. Ds1 is nearly 14 and has started to get a bit cocky and I know the school would ring if there were issues but I'd still like to have meeting to make sure things are going ok.

Was thinking of emailing all subject teachers and either making appointments or just having phone conversation to see how he was doing. Any ideas?

Bizarre. I would contact the head (or at least the head of year) and ask why this is the case.
In DD1s school we had them yearly plus an individual meeting with the form tutor on another date to set targets for the coming year. There was one after the mocks for year 11 in early Feb.
DD2s school is is more disorganised but had two days this year. However it is first come first served for all the appointments as they have all the years on the same day. You can make individual appointments but I feel embarassed to if there is no particular reason.
