Watching 'I Am Legend' at school

Have discovered that a Year 7 science class is watching 'I Am Legend' during lessons. Is this common? Am I the only one who thinks this is not appropriate/a good use of class time? Just wondering.

I'm a school librarian and it is against the law for me to loan DVDs to children who are underage, regardless of whether they have a note from their parent. I am really strict about it because basically I don't want to lose my job or end up in court which has happened to others.

But, on the other hand, as far as I am aware, teachers are allowed to show films above age, if they are relevant to what they are teaching. They certainly do at my school anyway (and garner their share of parental complaints).

I meant to say, as a parent, I definitely wouldn't be happy with your DD's teacher. He needs a good talking to from his HoD. I think many young teachers just aren't very aware that our pupils need a bit of gentle parenting sometimes rather than trying to be their best mate by showing them 'naughty' films.
