The title says it all really. Does anyone know what the difference is between these courses?

Depends on the level!

BTEC Level 3 diploma is 12 units and usually done 16-18. To move onto a relevant degree after there is a foundation course first.

Level 3 BTEC extended diploma is 18 units usually done 16-18, and you can move directly onto a relevant degree.

This is all 'I think'!!

The question would be easier to answer if you said which level and even the course titles.

My daughters application was for art, so quite different and that's what we were told for her subject. Hopefully someone can help but you can ask the colleges/sixth forms too - they will advise.

It's the levels that are important. Level 3 courses are equivelant to A Levels and how many it is equal to depends on whether it is a certificate, diploma or extended diploma.

If dd is looking to do art at uni then they will get in on their portfolio, the BTEC/C and G will get them the funding.
