Poor old DD is having a pre-physics wobble. She is not happy at all. And i have no knowledge of physics whatsoever so can't help. Poor baby.

DameHermioneRex · 23/05/2012 20:14

Tw8ce Blush

cardibach · 23/05/2012 20:44

My DD is doing a Physics past paper as I type. I am being terribly supportive by having the tv off and MNing instead! I will mark it for her using the mark scheme when she finishes.

sue52 · 23/05/2012 20:54

DD has been revising in the garden today. Despite liberal applications of factor 40 and staying in semi shade, she has managed to burn her shoulders. I've smothered her in calamine lotion and I hope itchy shoulders wont detract from English Lit tomorrow. Good luck to all the oyhers.

MaureenMLove · 23/05/2012 20:55

We've got relanships tomorrow. We might have our very own relationship problems in a minute though, when I tell her we're going to spend the next 45mins revising together! Grin

Can I jut ask, how on earth a post got pulled on a thread like this? Anyone know? If you don't want to say it on here, please feel free to PM me! Grin

DameHermioneRex · 23/05/2012 20:58

No idea. How odd.

Pickgo · 23/05/2012 21:07

Another one having their own relationships tested by 'Relationships'....

I have had moody, despondent, confident, cocky and downright reckless.

All not helped by the fact that DS's English teacher chose not to even look at any of these poems with the class until after Easter!

What do you think? Is leaving the poetry to 4 weeks before the exam almost criminally negligent in its incompetence... or canny because the kids will remember it better being so current in their minds?

Answers must be clearly argued and tell me if I should complain once the exams are over.

Kez100 · 23/05/2012 21:33

The pulled post was advertising, nothing rude!

empirestateofmind · 24/05/2012 00:02

The pulled post was quite nice, wishing all the students good luck, but it had a shop e-mail address under it.

DD has chemistry tomorrow. It is without doubt her favorite subject. She is hoping toi take it to A level and then degree - I just hope it goes well. She chatted through the revision book this evening with DH (cynical old goat) while I chatted with the cat. Once DD had gone to bed DH did say that she knew her stuff.

Oh lordy lord please let this one go well!

empirestateofmind · 24/05/2012 00:11

Pickgo that does seem a bit odd, was this an experienced teacher or a new one? Did the other classes do the same?

IdontknowwhyIcare · 24/05/2012 06:21

Morning all! Hows evryone coping? We seem to be in the thick of it now, one yesterday, two today chemistry and eng lit, and two tomorrow.

Ds has goon off having had egg fried rice for breakfast today (god I am such a soft touch) and apparently we WILL be having chunky monkey cookies and meatballs for teaHmm.

Ooh pickgo, ds school did similar. Ds seems v happy and teacher was vv happy yesterday with his work. His school gives the English students two teachers, one has been doing the sight seen poems and the other sight unseen. It appears to have had good results last year. In fact they have had two teachers for the past two years. One did of mice etc and the lord of the flies. With the poetry Apparently it is all Down to structure. First impressions, second reading and what you took away from it, and what you thought the poet was trying to say. His class are doing character and voice.

Good luck everyone.

empirestateofmind · 24/05/2012 08:50

DD had a sensible breakfast of beans on toast and went off for geography. Now there are only six exams left but they are scattered over four weeks.

Next week's physics exam is at 7.30pm (due to time difference), it is just as well she is a bit of an owl.

bruffin · 24/05/2012 09:16

Ds has suddenly seemed to have lost his confidence in chemistry, he seems very worried about the emperical formulas. He is dyslexic and has memory problems which may not help. He was going to take A level but was trying to find an alternative yesterday.
Oh well he went off full up on bacon and eggs but quite deflated. The english lit doesn't seem to bother him.

Kez100 · 24/05/2012 10:00

We had a "can't do poetry" wobble at 8 o'clock this morning as we got into the car! I suggested that after science exam this morning, in the free lesson times, she should take a trip to the English Department for a 'confidence boost chat' before the exam this afternoon.

After today, there are only three left here. English Language and a Science Ideas next week and then a Science module after half term. Lots of time for revision of that latter exam.

Science, particularly, seems never ending - quite what it has been like for your DCs with triple science can't begin to imagine!

IdontknowwhyIcare · 24/05/2012 11:42

Empire where are you? We are in the middle east and ds has two exams tomorrow (Friday) our weekend. Our time difference is 3 hours ahead. Lots of quarantine as they seem to start a bit earlier, after all ds was at school at 7.30am today for chemistry at 11.30 (UAE time), 9.30 (uk). So when eng lit is over with the extra time it will be 6pm. Makes for a long day. Can't imagine what your dc is going to feel like Empire.

BrigitBigKnickers · 24/05/2012 12:29

DD has woken up with a bad cold Angry. She has an English Lit poetry exam this afternoon- she is good at English so hope she is up to it (wants to take it for A level.) Then nothing till next Tuesday when she has her final English exam and Graphics Theory paper.

empirestateofmind · 24/05/2012 13:26

IdontknowwhyIcare we are in Singapore which is 7 hours ahead of the UK. So the morning sessions are in the late afternoon and the afternoon sessions are in the evening. Luckily DD only had one day with two exams and most of the rest are in the afternoon.

BringBack1996 · 24/05/2012 17:41

How did everyone's DC find todays exams? DS thought the chemistry was very hard, as did his friends. English he found good which is a pleasant surprise as he's normally very negative about poetry!

lancelottie · 24/05/2012 17:44

You mean your children volunteer something beyond 's'awright, s'pose' when you ask them about exams?

knittedslippersx3 · 24/05/2012 17:47

Dd had science ideas today. She said it went really well. English Lang re-sit and another science next week.

MaureenMLove · 24/05/2012 17:54

Volunteer information? DD doesn't bloody shut up! Grin

She did Science Ideas too today. One she missed through illness last year. I've had a blow by blow account of every single answer she gave. To the point that she said, 'hold on, I'll just go and get the text we given to look at last week!'

Relationships English Lit, seems to be OK too.

And the best bit, my colleague at school said she saw her at the bus stop this morning, with her head in a revision book! Grin

petal2008 · 24/05/2012 17:56

DS had chemistry and eng lit today. Sent both went well. Questions on Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing and Snowball in Animal Farm. Said he could get his teeth into both of those characters so fingers crossed. Night off from revising as has revision lessons at school tomorrow and no more exams till Tuesday. Smile

cardibach · 24/05/2012 17:59

Excuse me, but I just have to say this.
Fuck, fuck, buggery fuck.
Sorry.
Only a 'friend' of DDs chose last night to enlighten her about her friend-who-is-a-boy/boyfriend has been snogging other girls. She was devastated (I felt like Ross in Friends 'But you were on a break!) and didn't sleep well. She looked really sad this morning, and then had to do Physics (her worst subject) and then ENglish Lit (which she wants to do feo A level). On top of that, I was on a course so couldn't be around.
Bloody boys! (Your DSs excepted, obviously)
She seems OK tonight, but said the Physics was horrible. Don't know how much of that was because it was hard and how much because her head wasn't in the game.

BeingFluffy · 24/05/2012 17:59

DD had two Chemistry papers and said both went well. In English she wrote 4 pages on Lord of the Flies and 2 on Carol Ann Duffy and has no idea how she did Hmm. Very hot here today and public transport has broken down so nearly late this morning (I got a call from the school) and took ages to get home. First Latin paper tomorrow!
