My DD is thinking of applying to a school for year 10 onwards where they do BTEC level 2 in art instead of GCSE. The school (Brit school) promotes this as a specialist fine art course. I wondered what the difference is between the BTEC and the GCSE? Is there more work? Is it really a more advanced course? My DD is currently at a school where her only option would be to do art as a one year GCSE, although it is a school with an art specialism and takes 10% of applicants on the basis of aptitude, but doesn't offer much. She eventually wants to aim for a career in the art field.
Thanks!
