Mock 11 plus?

Hi there, any recommendations based on your experiences for companies mock testing for the Sutton grammars and West London indies? I've heard bad reviews of 11Plusmocktests, so I'm not keen on them. Any others? Is it worth it to have Ds go through the experience before the actual real thing?

yes if you are planning on your son sitting the Sutton I think it is well worth sitting their mock if only for them to know where the loo are etc. They give pretty good feedback on the results and your child's position although remember lot can change

Would have thought his school would do a mock?

SWStressed · 10/04/2012 19:56

problem is most competitive grammars all tend to do something slightly different in terms of eleven plus so it depends where you are looking.

Sorry I'm slightly confused by the replies, mocks are run by private companies, not by the grammar schools, which do not offer the possibility, right? The company will choose the location depending which school is willing to hire themselves as a venue. Am I correct?

I did a mock at my primary school.

hardboiled,

I think the earlier poster meant that your DC should sit the Sutton PTA Mock tests which are held at Sutton grammar. Applications for the mocks opened a couple of weeks ago and places go quickly so I would get onto their website quickly. The tests are being held in May this year.

Over 2000 children sat the mocks in 2011 and you will receive the raw score and the standardised scores of everyone who sat them so you can see how your child is progressing against others. They cover VR, mathematics and English.

Well worth the £25 fee I think if just for the exam experience

Thanks legallady!

I am also looking for mock tests for my son - I'm not in your area, but if I come across any in my research which could be useful to you, I'll let you know!

asiatic · 20/04/2012 19:47

In most areas the schools themselves run mock tests

The Sutton grammars are super-selectives, so they don't have a catchment area. Schools in non-grammar areas won't do mocks. Apparently Sutton usually does a mock but has been late announcing it this year. 11+ forum is fount of all knowledge - go there for any info you need about mocks.
