New School in E14?

Hello Mums,

I quit teaching five years ago and went back to study my passion, Marine Biology. I never dreamed that my experience of working at a respected London university would ever rekindle my passion for teaching. It certainly did. I supervised countless final year undergraduates who had such a fragile grasp of Maths, English and Biology, I frequently came home in tears. I worked in the east end of London, these kids were "educated" in Tower Hamlets. I am currently in the privaliged position where I can contemplate starting my own school.

I have endless contacts in schools, public, private and international. I am already compiling my list of excellent teachers whom I know and trust. London has a lack of good schools. You send your children to private school, or risk the post code lottery. State schools are being held together by talented girls and boys from Australia and New Zealand on a supply contract. Education in London is in a complete mess.

My question to you is, would you be prepared to support a private, affordable school in East London with a caring ethos and brilliant teachers?

I am a dedicated Scientist in despair of the education being offered to the next generation. I want to go back to my teaching roots and try to make a difference.

Let me know your thoughts Mums.

Joan Good

As a matter of interest why are you not going down the free school route?

(set up your own free school?)
