DS is in year 5 so we are thinking of secondaries, Does anyone have anything poistive to say about RPH? I know they have a new head so I am hoping against hope there is improvement. And what abou Coombe boys?

I mean 'positive' and 'about' !

Think Coombe Boys is definitely on the 'up' although still a fair way to go before it catches up with Coombe Girls!

Think you would be better off not considering RPH for a couple of years yet -

Hmmm. I thought that would be the case.Shame as I would prefer a mixed sex school.Anyone else?

my son is at Rutlish and am really happy with it. He is in year 9 and just had options evening and met with teachers - really could not ask for more. boys are more important than results. My other kids are in independent schools and honestly the majority of teachers I met at Rutlish were more inspiring and seemed to know the boys better than the teachers at other kids schools.

Dukey I'm really happy to hear that. We've just accepted a place at Rutlish for yr 7 this September. It was our first choice and the only school we viewed that we left with no doubts. :)

oooh. Thanks I shall look at that one as well then.

Both my boys went to Rutlish, and it is a really good school that has improved massively year-on-year over the last 10 years or so. Their GCSE results this year were significantly ahead of national averages.

Great, really committed and inspiring head and staff.

The campus is also a lot more attractive and in a much nicer location than Raynes Park.

TrollopDollop · 12/03/2012 19:45

Thanks to you too. That is interesting. It's a bit a of trek from us so we may not get in but I shall go and see.Really don't want the hassle of moving again although I may have to for DD (she's yr 3).Sigh.

It's definitely worth a trip to get a feel for the place.

And you can come and move to lovely Merton Park!

Mrsrobertduvall · 12/03/2012 21:15

I have a ds at Coombe Boys and he is excelling.
I also have a dd at Coombe Girls and I have to say I think CBS will be hot on the heels this year with results.
Very inspiring, enthusiastic staff at theboys...my ds is very happy there.

MrTumblesCrackWhore · 12/03/2012 21:18

I don't have kids there yet but I live close by and am a teacher, therefore a vested interest in what goes on there ... comments I have gleaned from others are that Rutlish is vastly improving

I agree about location of Raynes Park - squeezed in next to Tesco and the A3 flyover - doesn't look very pleasant.
