Anyone else's child sit the exam?

DS1 said it was hard and he is disappointed in himself that he struggled with it, although he said all the others in the exam thought it was hard too Sad

I just feel so Sad for him. He has been poorly the last 4 weeks - had ab's last week which did nothing took him back to the dr's last night and it turns out he has a chest infection. He has had little sleep now for weeks.

My DD did the AQA unit 2 maths today. It was a resit from last summer as she got a B but her target was A*. She found it very hard as did all her friends so your son is not alone. My DD thinks she will be sticking with the B!

Thanks mycat. DS says he can resit this next year, so he has written down the stuff he wasn't sure on and said he will read up on it. He thinks he will either get a high C or a low B.

My DD is also in Y10 and sat this on wednesday. She said it was really hard and not too confident will score as high as unit 1 which she took last June (got A*) Lots of kids in her set thought it was hard too and said that teacher thinks consequently grade boundaries may be lower. She says she knows she will be resitting in June! Does anyone know if Maths is like Science where each module is 25% so could make up the marks in the next unit if just missed an A or B? It is AQA BTW

BellaVita · 11/03/2012 17:23

Thanks for that busymum, fingers crossed about the grading boundaries.

Maths Unit 1 is 27%, unit 2 is 33% and unit 3 is the remainder according to DS1.

I work in a different secondary school and they use Edexcel, I spoke to one of the maths teachers and he said that the AQA papers tend to be "wordier" which could make the question seem harder than it really is compared to Edexcel.

Good luck to our DC's for June!

I think it is like a mathematical equation deciding whether to resit or not ! DD got UMS 76 (80) in unit 1 which she sat last june so all I am trying to think is if she gets a B in unit 2 she may still be on track for an A overrall? DD says that head of Maths tells them whether to resit or not .
