My dd is 11 has lots of health problems and is dreading going to secondary in Sept. I do not know what to do for the best, dd has been put back a year by school, but her writting is like a 6/7 year old and she struggles to spell 4 letter words such as with/want/cant. I really do not know what to do for the best, i have spoken to my mum who thinks its a bad idea. Any advice really welcome. Thanks!

hi, you might be better off posting in the home education section here, you'll get tons of great advice there

(p.s. Home Ed ROCKS!)

Home ed works well for many but I'm note sure if it's really ideal if what you actually need is some real helpful SENCO support. Have you spoken to the SENCO and the learning support team at her allocated school?

yes, they said theres not much they can do as dd has no learning difficulites, just a lot of time off due to hospital visits and being unwell.

But surely if she's this far behind she needs extra support in the classroom. Does she have an IEP at the moment? Have you spoken to her primary school about your concerns? They will know your DD's limitations and will also have a good idea about what she will need for secondary.
