Anyone concerned with the extent of building works at Tormead

One of my daughters has an offer for Sept 2012 at Tormead in Guildford. My other daughter has been offered a place at GHS. Hence we were keen for them both to attend schools in Guildford. Since the offer was issued we have seen the detailed plans for the building work taking place over at least the next 3 years at the school and they are much more extensive than indicated at the various open days etc. Do any parents of existing pupils or prospective pupils at Tormead also share our concerns that the planned works may diminish the experience of pupils at the school?

All schools (especially private ones) go through constant phases of building work. St Catherine's has just had a big project, the High School had its new sports hall etc.
During my kids time at school, at primary the school doubled in physical size, and another phase maybe starting soon. At secondary a new sixth form was built.
If you want nice new facilities, and a better, more suited to the 21st century learning environment, then you will get building work. Also somewhat flippantly I would be very careful at GHS if they get a new head, as building work also seems to go with each New head stamping their own mark on the place.
I am sure that Tormead will handle the building work well and will not allow it to distract from the education of the girls.

Is there any reason you want to send your daughter's to different schools?

Hi - thanks - agree with you - I am sure they will handle it fine. Reason they are going to different schools is because only one passed the entrance exams for GHS and the other didn't obtain a place although obtained a place at Tormead.
