DH & I are divided regarding these schools. I like the small private one, he likes the larger State one..... Any helpful comments welcome! I feel dd will do better at a smaller school, he thinks the opposite!! We are waiting to hear from Lady M's, but have offer from More Hse. I am almost hoping she doesn't get an offer from Lady M's!!!

Lady M is suppose to be a very good school - they usually do very well in the league tables...but, More House is probably very nice and nurturing -more so than Lady M. If you have both to choose from, consider yourselves lucky to have such amenable choices!

I know! If we do get an offer from Lady M, then we are v fortunate! We are at logger heads really....

Did you get a place at Lady M? We are in the same position as you but think we will go for LMS as I have heard nothing but good things - as one friend said "a place there is like a golden ticket!". I even stopped two girls wearing LMS uniform in the street yesterday and grilled them. They couldn't have been more articulate and polite - a great ad for the school if they needed one......

We did! We have decided to do More Hse though (well, I have - husband not so sure, but that is a totally different topic, rather tense in the house at the mo!)

We (I) feel that with dd's dyslexia & other 'issues' feel that she will get more help at MHse..... LMS is a fantastic school & does so well, but I think she will thrive in a less pressurised environment, she is currently always at the bottom of her class & feels 'stupid' (her words, which break my heart as she most certainly is not!)

Did you get a place?

Yes! Hoorah..... we have decided to go for Lady Margaret on the basis that once you start paying (experience with DS) you can almost always find a place, so if LMS doesn't work out for us we will move her. Probably will move at 6th form anyway to join brother boarding. Good Luck with More House - I thought Mr Carlisle a lovely man and the girls I know who go there are all extremely happy.

Just for info....a friend of mine who is a teacher said that state schools have to be much more accountable than private schools, so although MH may be smaller & more nurturing, LMS would have to demonstrate that they were actively helping your DD in tangible ways. My DD was lower band so will prob be in bottom set..... I'd love her to have some company..... not that I'm trying to change your mind....much!!!

I just feel she wouldn't get much help/support as she isn't statemented... (really don't know how to spell that!!)

Anyway, decision made, hope we don't come to regret it.... I really liked Mr C, he has given us more feedback re the interview/exams than dd present school has over the past 7 years...!

So pleased 'you' got a place - golden ticket!!
