I am looking for a secondary school for DS1 and am confused and hope someone out there can help!! I have no personal experience of independent schools as I went to a comprehensive and we are moving our child from the state to independent sector so any help would be much appreciated. My son currently attends a very good local school. He is above average academically but although he is bright he is BORED at school, his school is very academic. Although our local secondary school is excellent we fear it may be more of the same in terms of pushing for academic results rather than inspiring the child and nurturing the child's individual talents. I realise we are lucky to be able to consider private education. We have looked at LWC and liked it as it seemed to have a more relaxed approach than where he is now and also lots of sport on offer (DS comes alive when playing sport). However I would like some feedback from anyone with experience of the school about how it performs academically and also what the pastoral care is like. DS would not be boarding.
We are also considering Churchers college in Petersfield which seems to be more academic but I didn't get a feeling of much in the way of pastoral care . If anyone has any experience of Churchers ie)children there etc I would be really grateful for any feedback about the school.

My DS started Churcher's College this Sept. He loves it, as do we. We have been happy with the pastoral care so far. His form teacher has been very supportive and has responded quickly to any concerns we have had. The school is academic but fun and sporty.

Thank you wrotham. That is really helpful. I am due to go and have a look in a couple of weeks so hopefully that will help with the decision making. Glad your ds is happy!
