Hi there

I'm new, but need some advice so going to jump right in. My DS has been called for interview with the head on 3rd February. Did anyone else apply and have they heard anything? The school website states there's an individual as well as group interview but the lady who called said it's just 20mins with the head, so I am confused.

Does anyone know what to expect or have any hints on how to prepare please? Oh, we applied for bursary; not sure if this makes any difference.

thanks and good luck to everyone

Just wondering, those of you that did it last year and got in (and took the place), whether your experience was positive.

We like the idea of 10+ entry. The only down side is that it does rule out the one or two highly super-selective (or partially selective) grammars in SW london. He'd move - assuming he passed - before waiting to see if he did get high enough for those SSGs and so commit to the fees now. On the plus side, less competition and - more importantly - one less year of stress!

So - do you like it? Are the DSs (they seem so small) looked after well enough in amongst all the big boys, and so on.....

Hi OhDearConfused, am in the same boat as you on the 10+ entry. Finally decided to go for it as my son really, really wants to take the exam. Put in the application last friday and guess need to start prep now.

Just saw this has revived. I was MITD.

DS and his class mates in year 6 at the school all seem to be thriving and very happy. I am very impressed with the level of care the school builds around these young boys to help them transition to secondary. They have also really helped build a community for the parents to,so they can support the boys as much as possible.

DS has really grown up this term, in a really positive way, I really am very happy and pleased with how it is has turned out. PM me if you want to know more.

I'm way out of date, but thread caught my eye. Both my DS went to CLSBoys - truly excellent school in every way. Both v. happy tho v. different from each other. All kids there v. well motivated to enjoy learning and succeed. Couldn't wish for more in a school (except I wish it was mixed). Good teaching and lots of out-of-school activities. And the location... All kids need to do is turn up and try hard - success virtually a guarantee. All parents need to do is make sure they eat, sleep and do their homework. Results excellent, leading to great uni eds and careers. Sport good too though other kids not so sporty as school tends to attract academic types. Money well spent if you ask me - even if you don't get bursaries/scholarships. Good luck to all.
