Right background son was targeted at primay school and was bullied badly for 4 years, tried to take his own life it got so bad ,the sad thing is my son is quite a tall lad weighty not fat though and also missed out on his year 6 trip because he was scared their would be no escape from the bullies .

Roll on year seven since he's stated has really grown in confidence and has for their first time made some firends.

Today my son slapped a boy OMG the boy punched my son and tried to take his bag that is what I was told by the school He did hurt the boy it was just a sharp slap and the boy was more shocked than anything

Now I told my son off but deep down I am very proud he has finally the confidence to stand up for him self we can't as parents Officaly condone the slapping but we me and oh are please as punch

He got 5 negative points and got a half hour detention, I think it was worn the slap and him not being know as a push over

I had my cross face on but deep down I am smiling he will never know how proud I am finally he stands up for himself

I see where you're coming from but I have to ask why didn't you take him out of the school that allowed him to be bullied for four years? Sad

maypole1 · 09/01/2012 19:54

Gumby we didn't know it was going on I feel so guilty that he didn't tell me or any one I suppose it didn't help they told him they would cut him up and throw his body in the woods but the fact is by the time it all came out he was in the last term of year 5 in which the school finally took action.

Looking back now their we're sighns but trust me I have tormented myself with the what ifs for the last year and a half

Why did you tell him off?

It's about time that slap was issued.

pictish · 09/01/2012 19:58

Oh I know you're secretly proud. Wink

After four years of torment - I think it was absolutely warranted.

Gunznroses · 09/01/2012 20:29

maypole absolutely bloody brilliant! Wink

Completely wrong, I say this as a teacher and a parent, got my older DC to 'warn' the bully off, worked a treat! Don't wait 4 years!

marriedinwhite · 11/01/2012 08:48

Have you found out what happened to the other boy?

Doilooklikeatourist · 11/01/2012 08:56

Good for your son , hopefully the other boy had 10 penalty points and a whole week of detention !

Good for him for standing up for himself that is really good news.

It may well mean that he is crossed off the list of potential targets as well now (a big lad who hits back doesn't make a bully look cool). I was the only one from my primary to go to a particular secondary school and one girl targeted me to impress her mates from primary. We had one fairly inconclusive fight and after that I was left alone by all of them because you don't get much kudos with your gang of mates if your "victim" thumps you back hard.
