Offers Day 1st March 2012

Anyone else feeling like we do about the impending Offers Day?

Not at all a foregone conclusion that DS will get into any of first five choices (all selective, two 11+ passes, one 11+ result due this coming week) so rather up in the air.... Sixth choice is okayish but DS has talked it down to the point that he is now desperately hoping it's not his one and only choice! Otherwise DS is being quite mature about considering that he could end up at any of the schools and is already thinking about which friends from primary school he is likely to stay in touch with etc.....

It all feels a bit as if life is on hold till 1st March.....

Thanks sewapp, I know lots of kids currently at BSS. It went downhill for a while, but think its improving lots...DS has 3 v good friends there aswell who are doing so well. Thinking of the alternatives where I live, it is def the best for DS.

Phew, DS got his sibling place!

Great to hear about all the happy children (and mums!), sorry for those who are less pleased.

We got our first choice so now difficult decision as to whether keep him where he is or send him to the grammar school.

Yes, time for popping lots of corks! Red, white or sparkling everyone , , . We are slightly taken aback as it wasn't DS's first choice and we hadn't really thought that much about the options between 1 and 6.... but think it might be the best choice for DS

We got first choice too - not selective but outstanding and bus goes from down the road - can't really ask for more.

Clutter - that's kind of our position - banded comp, with a great reputation, v good results, short walk, we're very lucky.

DD1 got her first choice - expected, because he brother is there already, but such a relief to see it in black and white. I logged on the the website just after 5, no problems.

Haven't yet received the e-mail with the result, but I did get one saying thanks for accepting the place.

DD1 is in: big local girls' comp, she'll love it.

Well done to all those that got what they wanted and thinking of those that didn't. Twin 1 didnt get 1st choice (Grammar) but got 2nd choice and Twin 2 got 2nd choice so they are both going to the same school and VERY happy about that. Had spent most of the day looking up the appeals procedure and looking at private schools we could apply to at this late stage and working out how big a second mortgage we would need to take out to do this but thank goodness we don't have to go down that route. Its party time and mine's a large one!

Just logged into the surrey eadmissions site and DD got her first preference school. Hardly a surprise but still happy.

Couldn't wait for email! LOL

may have run out the house to tell any one who would listen >> ( hubby not answering phone) ... wahooooooooooooooooo ( sore throat ) and now i can sleep easy until gcse date lol

Yes I am so relieved for DS. Let's just say the other schools within distance to me I would not have been happy with. I wont be truly happy until he starts there and settles in...then my heart will be in its place.

He has got what he wanted though...so no excuses now

As predicted dd got her 3rd choice, which in reality is our joint second choice. She will be going to a huge all girls school! I think she will do just fine there but it does mean I'll have to go through this whole applications rigmarole in another 2 years for my ds. Meanwhile we'll stay on the waiting lists for our 1st and 2nd choices. Have given up booze for Lent and tonight is the first night I'd really quite like a glass of . Oh well.

Oh Zed4 you must be so relieved. I have also got twins, so will be going through this all again with them in a few years.

In Wandsworth, so happy DS got offered second place! First was GraveneyTooting but had no realistic chance of getting in there. Now hoping his friend gets in with him, they didn't apply on line so have to wait for the post!😒
