Offers Day 1st March 2012

Anyone else feeling like we do about the impending Offers Day?

Not at all a foregone conclusion that DS will get into any of first five choices (all selective, two 11+ passes, one 11+ result due this coming week) so rather up in the air.... Sixth choice is okayish but DS has talked it down to the point that he is now desperately hoping it's not his one and only choice! Otherwise DS is being quite mature about considering that he could end up at any of the schools and is already thinking about which friends from primary school he is likely to stay in touch with etc.....

It all feels a bit as if life is on hold till 1st March.....

Trying to distract myself until 4pm. Just spoken to a friend whose DD has put down catchment school. Yesterday she was asked who she wanted to put down for her person she'd like to be with at the catchment upper school, as was her friend who is in DD's class.

DD was at orthodontist appointment in the morning so might not have been there when they were doing it but I would have thought they would have asked her at afternoon registration and surely she would have mentioned it to me. So am hoping that's because she isn't on that school's list and will be on her first choice....

What's depressing is I have to go through this all over again for DS and Middle School next year.

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 10:48

im realistic there could be alot of siblings and im open to viewing a school that i may get that wasnt on my list before i ram in for appeal appeal, ill be sensible so ds doesnt pick up,
i feel maybe the children will adapt better than us my ds didnt bat an eye lid this morning was more worried if there was enough nutella for another round of breakfast

nimjacole · 01/03/2012 11:00

Hi all congrats to all who got their first choice - We live in Essex and got our choice last night. We had four choices and I put down two of the choice which my dd wanted to go because her friends put down but realistically we told her that she probably wouldn't get in because we didn't come under the catchment area. We are very happy with our 4th choice!!! but have had confirmation that we can go on the shortlist for 1st choice but dd is happy either way.

How lucky are some of you to know your results already!! Congrats to those who got what they wanted.

I did not do mine on line as i was worried i press delete instead of send!! in fact i didn't even trust the post and handed all mine in by hand !!! Which means i (we)have to wait till TOMMOROW 11.30 AM for MR postman.

This has been the longest week ever!! I am not normally a pessimist but am avidly following the advice been given on appeals.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 01/03/2012 11:16

We had to wait to find out for DD (couple of years ago) bizzey for the same reason as you - applied by post

Actually, although we had to wait longer, it worked out quite well, because I could ask people what they'd got but say we didn't know yet. So was easier to be pleased for them or sympathetic as needed.

And in the end we got our good news. It was fab !

ripsishere · 01/03/2012 11:18

I've just phoned up. DD got my her first choice.
The only fly in the ointment is DH considering applying for Head of school there.

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 11:20

im going to stop looking... evening is evening so ill wait .. until then will see the teachers at school and see if i can squeeze anything out lol ha ha ha

fabwoman · 01/03/2012 11:20

We are also waiting. DS1 is at a new school as we moved him late last year and can stay there until GCSE's or go to another school come September. DH and I just don't know what to do. DS1 passed his 11+.

fabwoman · 01/03/2012 11:23

We won't hear until 4 this afternoon.

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 11:24

ooo could we call up?

bizzey · 01/03/2012 11:32

I am London SW and i am sure results do not go on line till 5pm when the wed site crashes because many people log on at the same time ..or so i read on another thread somewhere on msnet ? Is it true that p school do know results already?

hubbabubbabubba · 01/03/2012 11:35

Its really not a big deal.

halfrom · 01/03/2012 11:50

Adversecamber. Congrats on your bog standard comp. Did you wait up all night on tenterhooks and find the whole build up very stressful, lol. I wouldn't have thought you did. I'm sure your dc will have the same chances as all the others. Bless you, bog standard comps rule.

halfrom · 01/03/2012 12:10

Moozle, same happened to me but primary and they had 2 places to find for my ds's. They found places as they have to. I had to compromise though both different schools next to each other. One community one church not even our religion, but it worked. Custard is right and you will find lots of support on here so if it does go badly people can help. Good luck to you, I have it again in few years. How the bloody hell are you supposed to know how a flamin crow flys, thought we had good standard measurements now such as miles?

ripsishere · 01/03/2012 12:11

DD is going to a bog standard faith school.
Apparently, our offers are being posted today and being emailed to us in six days time which is odd.

Northernlurker · 01/03/2012 12:19

Hurrah we got our choice so dd will be joining her big sister there Smile

dandelionss · 01/03/2012 12:20

In our LEA they are all sent out by post today regardless of whether you applied online or not.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 01/03/2012 12:26

Thanks Booby :) It's a good faith school, but we're not church goers and we're out of catchment, so we thought it was a long shot. Just so thrilled for DS, as he really wanted to go there Grin

startail · 01/03/2012 12:26

DD got her one and only choice, they emailed a bit after 8 and confirmed in the post, very efficient.
(a tiny bit of me will always wish she'd wanted to try for the Grammar, but she absolutely wanted to go to the same school as DD1 and her friends)

It's a properly comprehensive school with sets for all abilities. The difference is she'll have to want to do well and show she can.

However, she wont get stupidly long days followed by mounds of HW.

dandelionss · 01/03/2012 12:30

I told a lie. Allocations must have been posted yesterday -come in the post todAY.

ELZGirlz · 01/03/2012 12:33

Well done to those who got first choice. We got for first choice for DD, a very good comp now academy. We are lucky to live in Derbyshire with no grammars or selective schools so never had the worry of 11+ etc.

northernmonkey · 01/03/2012 12:48

Today is going so slow! Ds has gone off on a trip to London and I'm hoping I can tell him when he gets back. His senco doesn't know yet either so she's eagerly waiting to find out too grrr

spicegirl5 · 01/03/2012 12:51

Are there any Lambeth based mums on this net? we go live at 5pm too Sad

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/03/2012 12:52

Woman on phone at LEA gave me wrong info the other day, offers were online from this morning.

DD has school we wanted which is one I'd have laughed at anyone telling me I'd be nervously waiting for a couple of years ago.
