Hi,
Sevenoaks school and they take boarders
here

Bonsoir · 18/12/2011 08:50

I think Sevenoaks does GCSEs? But certainly no A-levels. And you can join for the IB without having done GCSEs elsewhere, certainly, though you must pass an entrance exam.

There are only 11 registered on IB's website in UK for the Middle Years (ie GCSE equivalent) programme :

ACS Egham International School

ACS Hillingdon International School
108 Vine Lane, Hillingdon, Uxbridge, Middlesex

Dartford Grammar School
West Hill, Dartford, Kent

Havelock Academy
Holyoake Road, North East Lincolnshire, Grimsby

Hockerill Anglo-European College
Dunmow Road, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire

International Community School
21 Star Street, London

International School of London
139 Gunnersbury Avenue, London

Marymount International School
George Road, Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey

Southbank International School - Westminster campus
63-65 Portland Place, London

The North London International School
Friern Barnet Road, Friern Barnet, London

United Kingdom Wellington College
Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire

here but doesn't include Sevenoaks Confused Others offer the Diploma after GCSE/IGCSE instead of A levels.

At Sevenoaks you definitely have to do GCSE's I would imagine in most you would have to as GCSE's are done 14-16 and Ib is done 16-18

IB Middle Years porgarmme is from aged 11-16 but as below only 11 UK schools currently offer it. Bear in mind that there would be a transition period from NC and GCSE/A level teaching for any school subsequently adopting IB.

mummytime · 19/12/2011 07:39

ACS Cobham may not to MYP but doesn't do GCSEs, it does also offer IB.

Thanks, that's helpful. We may be returning to UK when DD1 is in the UK school year before the one where they traditionally do GCSEs OR (and this is more worrying) at the start of the year when they do GCSEs. She's bright enough, but what has worried me is that a friend said that her son is already having to pick his options for GCSE and he's only in the second year of secondary school! I don't think she would have any difficulties with English, English Lit, Maths, Art and French GCSE, but a bit worried about others and coursework if she comes back at this late stage.
