Feedback on Whitgift yr6

My DS will be sitting the Whitgift 10+ exam in January 2012 I agonised if I am doing the right thing. (current Head thinks DS will do well but would like him to do 11+) Would love feedback from anyone who's DS started yr6 at Whitgift in Sep 2011. How did they find it, did they settle in ok.
Would also love any info/tips on the interview process.

Thanks

Are you at CHS? If so I know of no-one who has taken and passed 10+ last year who regretted it. Equally both W&T know some people will sit 10+ and not be ready but will pass at 11+ or 13+, so you have nothing to lose. The Lake Garda trip at the start of Year 6 does help the group to bond. Some of the younger boys find the move from being one of a gang to deciding how you spend the long lunchbreak for yourself to be an adjustment (ie not just following the crowd but exploring your own interests).

Ladymuck
No ds is not at CHS, but it is good to hear the boys have no regrets. I must admit I like the idea of the Lake Garda trip to help the boys bond.

Thank for your response

We know someone who's taking child out of Whitgift and moving them to a state secondary as they think they aren't getting what they paid for in terms of teaching etc....

Ladymuck Who is PCH ? as I buy ds games he won't be playing COD or any games of that ilk, plus he only plays sport games.

gazzalw Any reason why your friend didn't choose another independent school.

Greatful for both your response

PCH is head at Cumnor, so irrelevant if your ds is elsewhere. Am with you re COD & the like but it does seem to be the social currency in Lower 1st at Whitgift at the moment.

gazzalw · 21/12/2011 15:55

Maybe disillusionment with the system?

Ladymuck, Showed your message to some one who's DS is at CHS she's quite shock with what you said regarding PCH relationship with Whitgift as her ds likes whitgift. She had no knowldge of this.
