Hi,
has anyone understood the points system here? I know you can get a pass with 3.5 points and a distinction is 4.5 point for the single award. How do the double awards work - is it just basic arithmetics ie 7 points for a pass and 9 for a distinction? How many points is a merit? In my case I find the teacher about as much help as the ocr website (...) and DD is wondering if she should stop at the single award (for which she has points) or try to get the double.
Any ideas???

It depends completely on which qualification they are aiming for at the end - there's not just a single award and a double award. There are about 6 different sizes of qualification, but the size you refer to as 'single', seems to relate to the smallest one. If you're talking about the next size up, then the thresholds are 2.5 for a pass, 4.5 for a merit and 6.5 for a distinction. But it also depends on whihc units she's done, as this is based on doing some of the larger (40 hours of teaching time) units.
