Are the schools shut next week or not?

Can't get any bloody sense out of DCs.

Don't want to ring the school cos it looks like "over-protective mumsikins".

I am away on a course and have got someone around to check in on DCs at night but do I assume they are at home or school in the day?

Shouldn't I have had a text from the school by now?

Why is life so hard??????? I really need to be on top of things at the moment and need the FACTS!!!!!!!!!

Staff taking industrial action do not need to notify their school until the morning of action - 30 November.

Schools may ask staff ahead of that date - to try to plan closure/part closure - but cannot pressure staff to answer.

Schools will want to let parents know about closure with as much notice as possible, but they are not in control on this occasion.

As a parent it is probably best to have 'stand by' care arranged if that is what your children require that can be stood down if your school is open or relevant years are working.

Surely GCSE stuff is still happening?

That'll go down well - one of them in school and the other not. Haha - glad I won't be here for that!

I don't think there are any GCSEs scheduled for next Wednesday. My GCSE sitting son will be off, he's already been set extra homework incase.

Our secondary is closed. We received a letter yesterday and a text message.

Year 11 daughter has plenty of revision to be getting on with. Year 9 son we are putting together 4 x 30 minutes of various things - Maths and English mainly and he'll go out with his mates as well.

Just got an email today stating that dds school will definitely be open on wednesday. Just have to break the good news to her now!

I think a lot of schools are going to be closed. Our high school is and my colleagues at work have Dcs in different schools - all closed . Best to assume closure I think.
