French A Level

DD1 is in lower 6th and taking french a level. She would really like to go to France next summer and do some sort of work experience that would help her to improve her french. I appreciate that this is a little vague, but does anyone have any ideas how she might possibly achieve this. Unfortunately we have no french contacts. Many thanks :)

Does she want to do childcare? She could probably get work as a summer au pair.

I'm in Year 13 and several of my friends who do French, Spanish or German went on Halsbury trips last year. www.workexperienceabroad.co.uk/france/
They run every half term and holidays and you can fly or take a coach there depending on cost. My friends made good friends who want to study similar subjects at uni and it really helps any uni application such as the PS, especially for an MFL.

She could try PGL as well, they have centres in the south of France. Otherwise can her school help her in terms of contacts?

You might organise a long exchange holiday with a French child of similar age through:

I almost arranged au-pair type work for my DD on here with MNers in France a few years back - only thing was she got other jobs that clashed with time she could have gone abroad. You could try posting in the "Living Overseas" section?
