It has an excellent reputation for Pastoral Care etc, but bumping as a MNer on here moved her DD from the Abbey to LO and I believe was very happy.

thank you! she really wants to go there but just worried everyone wont be so nice! she has been at a state school so any other opinions would be appreciated.

When I went there as a day girl, it was a very bitchy environment, but that was 15 years ago. And I think the year group I was in was particularly bad.

I'm sure it has changed a lot since then, and I have heard good things about the pastoral care there now. I hope they have improved the pastoral care side of things, because it really was lacking when I was there. I lost my Dad when I was in my third year, and literally got no support whatsoever. A couple of teachers said they were sorry for me, but that was it, I didn't once even get asked how I was. Also, there was no support at all for girls who were having problems with friendships, and we pretty much all had problems at some point because we were all so horrible to eachother. I remember being so happy when I left and discovered that most people were actually nice to eachother!

But I know there are only two or three teachers there now that I would remember, as one of my friends met one of our old teachers through her work, so I am sure it is very different now.
