Seems that people either go for Highgate Wood deemed improving or swot up for Latimer/Dame Alice Owens exams - but they're pretty hard to get these days. Is this right? What's HW like these days?

I've got a couple of friends with kids there. They're doing fine, and really love the creative/performance stuff they do. They're doing well socially too.

Academically, it's not great, tbh. Less than 50% obtaining 5 A-C GCSEs inc Maths and English from a school with a very large middle class cohort and lots and lots of private tutoring is far from impressive imvho.

Though like many schools I expect they'll be upping their game to meet Gove's new targets in the next couple of years.

william ellis? dont know much about it but remember the name from my teen days.
la sainte union (girls ) and st aloysious (sp?) (boys) both catholic though

am assuming fortismere in muswell hill has tiny catchment? (road stewart and ray davies went there!)

we have friends with daughter in yr 8 HW, they felt she is quite feisty and would be fine there but not keen to send their son, who is a little more shy.

I know any more families putting HW as a preferred school on their forms this year. Seems like the recent improvement is reaaly starting to bear fruit.
I predict quite a shrink in catchment over the next few years.
