What is the difference between Sandringham School and Beaumont School in St Albans

Can anyone give me comparisons to these two schools (Sandringham/Beaumont) Trying to make a decision which one would be best for my child.

8 years ago dsd went to beaumont and we were pleased with the choice. But she got bullied and was unhappy in yr 7. Pastoral care was poor to say the least. She did well academically and was G&T in languages - which is/was its strength.

It may have changed now but many of her friends loved it and loads have just gone to 'good' universities. she happened to move which meant different school which was rubbish at languages but she was happy and is at Unit now very happy.

have heard very good things about sandringham but suggest you ask questions about pastoral care. Exam results aren't everything.

First of all, both schools are excellent but you probably know that already!

My DC attended Beaumont but both went to Sandringham as part of their 6th form studies (there's a 6th form consortium with Verulam school)

Beaumont is slightly more traditional in approach whereas Sandringham tends to be child centred and uses more modern methods of teaching. The Sandringham school day starts and ends earlier with longer lesson periods. My DC preferred the Beaumont approach with shorter lessons covering more subjects in the school day.

Sandringham has better pastoral care and communicates more with parents. Beaumont is better for modern languages, Sandringham is particularly good for drama.

My DC both went on to excellent universities as did most of their friends from both schools.

my belief is that bright kids do well anywhere if there is a good atmosphere in school. SEN kids need specific things in place to make sure they are happy and well educated. Exam results give one picture but talking to students gives a rounder picture!
