Does your secondary school have any methods/forum for gathering feedback from parents.

If parents are unhappy about a particular policy or suchlike, how do you go about making it known?

I want to raise an issue with the school that i know many many parents are not happy about.

We have coffee mornings once per term with the Head and class teacher. I have also e-mailed the Head directly a couple of times this term: once because ds's homework in geography and maths had not been marked for 6 weeks and once over new English teacher's 'Seat of Shame' bollocks for children who got the lowest marks in the spelling test.

God you must be joking.

I once emailed a teacher (only the once, you understand) to politely ask if there was a reason my ds's work wasn't being marked and got a really ranty email back asking how dare I approach him, the next day ds got back from school and said he'd been publically dressed down in class by the teacher for complaining.

Never contacted them since, and he's in yr 12 now.

interesting, how different they are.

The school are very accommodating and I have emailed individual teachers about issues and they have been very helpful.

However, this is a whole school policy I want to question and will involve formal channels I'm sure.

They seem to have slipped it in without discussing it with anyone and I feel its somethign the head wanted and its now being forced on everyone.

Do you have a VLE login? That's what I usually use.

adelicatequestion · 14/10/2011 12:46

no, we have a login to see attendance records but not to voice what other parents might also be feeling.

We are given the contqct email for our DD's HT, Head of Year, class tutor.
If you have any queries you contact them.

To be honest the few times I have done so, I have received a call that day, once within ten minutes.

They are very good.

ElaineReese · 14/10/2011 14:14

Is there not a 'contact us' section on the VLE?

Though it sounds like what you're after is a dedicated method for voicing the concerns of many, rather than just email/VLE messages - is that right? In which case I'd either write an email in which you mention it's a concern for many of you, or else try making an appointment to which some representatives could go.
