Are there schools in UK where you can just do the IB and not GCSEs?

Not sure when we will be leaving here to come back to UK, but it may be when DD1 is in the year that does GCSEs (age 15/16). Ideally, she would go straight into the American school in London, or another international school, but if that doesn't work, we may need to look elsewhere for her.

Any ideas?

I thought the IB came after GCSE's, and students took it at age 16 - 18 as an alternative to A levels.

IB is an A level equivalent - but there are International GCSEs, are they what you mean? Lots of school offer those instead of/alongside normal GCSEs.

Hockerill does GCSEs at that age. IB in the 6th form.

ACS Schools do the IB all the way from nursery.

Sevenoaks school have done IB for years

ACS Schools are in Hillingdon, Egham and Cobham. You are probably talking a hour's commute, depending on where you live exactly.

Looking at the IBO link, there are several schools offering the MYP in London itself.

NLCS offers both IB and A levels and almost all selective schools offer IGCSE.

But the ACS schools are ideally situated to commute into London. DH used to do the city in a hour door to door, and ACS buses go from here.

Wellington College for a boarding option

I think Southbank does MYP, ISL certainly does, and both are central. I'm assuming you're looking into this with a view to IB MPY and then the diploma so want an MYP school, after which she could transfer if necessary - there are lots of schools who do the diploma but fewer offer MYP.

There have been some references to MYP; this is the Middle Years Program, this is what the IBO offers for 11 - 16 year olds.

It is less regulated in terms of the syllabi offered for each subject than I/GCSE. In my opinion it suits liberal arts and humanities subjects, but is not much of a preparation for maths (esp. at Higher Level).

Some teachers love it. In my experience few parents really understand the MYP, it is probably very different in structure to what they would have experienced as pupils themselves and just have to trust their kids' teachers.

Malvern College is a boarding school which will take students in Yr 11 to do a pre-6th course (where they can take some GCSEs but don't have to) with the intention of doing IB in the sixth form.
