When do you buy next years clothes/equipment?

Hello, hoping some of you can help.

When I was younger my mum used to buy everything for the new school year the day before in a mad rush, is this normal or do most tend to buy items like bags, pencil cases, trousers a few weeks in advance?

Usually July/August at some stage for coats (I buy online), uniforms in August when they appear in shops and shoes and school equipment last minute-ish, as they grow out of shoes so quickly and thre are lots of deals on school stuff in late Aug/early Sept.

Ive just bought all mine - Marks and Spencers currently have 20% off plus free delivery. Got everything except shoes for £39.

Have ordered new uniform for DS2 - the school uniform shop came into the primary school last week - he starts yr7 in Sept.

Have bought the school trousers from M&S for both DS1 and DS2 as like Jambalaya they have 20% off so may as well get them.

Will get new tops for DS1 next week - he goes to a different colour as going into yr10 in Sept.

I will buy school shoes the week before we go on hols - which will be second week in August. Will not have enough time when we get back.

Will buy coats about Oct time - they will wear their hoodies before this or if the weather is nice - no coat. They wear Superdry and although their current ones still fit, it will probably be the time for new ones in the Oct half term.

When we break up for the six week hols, I get them to go through their pencil cases and tell me what they need replacing and usually get any replacements there and then.

I always assumed that the sales came at the end of summer which is probably why mum waited. But it seems that there are sales out there already up to two months in advance. I will have a look around over the next week.

The nice man on the counter in M&S said if you want to shop for uniform online - at the end when checking out type in UNIFORM in promo codes and you will also get free delivery.

Same as Cat64. I tend to buy as needed or if I see something in the sale.

Me too, Cat! Or if I'm already ordering one thing & I think I may as well order extra and save on postage.

I ought to get DD1 a new skirt some time and start looking for new shoes soon.
She is a complete pain about shoes and can get out every pair in the shop, but I hope her feet won't grow much more.
Need to check the state of trousers. Trousers are easy, but expensive smart adult M&S. VAT on everything . I can get jumper, trousers and a skirt for DD2 for the cost of DD1s trousers. Cheap fashion ones no good on very adult shaped, fashion ignoring, low waist hating, pocket loving DD1
Apart from shoes DD2 can make do with what she's got until her very fashion concious peer group decide what is in this year (it is amazing the variations they can come up with given a seemingly straight forward primary uniform)

I only buy what we need - this year just 2xjumpers, some shirts for each and new PE kit for youngest as he changes school. Also need new shoes for youngest and will get them in the Clarks outlet in Somerset when we go past on our hols.

Pencil case stuff I have supplies all year round and they just help themselves as and when they need it.
