My dd just got an A for her GCSE Chemistry mock - with 28 out of 45. . That can't be right, surely?????? An A for 62%? Her friend got an A* with 33 out of 45!

Shall I just go and shoot myself now?

Which year is she in? Presumably not Year 11 as it's a bit late to be doing mocks.

As they won't have covered all the syllabus, the mark will be adjusted accordingly; andit depends how many papers there are forChemistry. Was this just one paper, or the overall mark after modules have been taken into account?,

Yes, those are the right sort of marks for those grades with AQA science. The reason is (as I understand it)that the vast majority get much lower marks than this and hence these marks do represent the top few percentages. My daughter got an A* on core Physics in January with 29/45, if I remember rightly. Be pleased!

She's in year 10. These are mocks for the science modules she's going to take after half term.

I just thought you';d need to do better than that for an A, that's all!
